For somebody following Indian Cricket for the last 2 decades or so it would be a familiar story after every for overseas trip-Our domestic cricket is being played on flat pitches and low bounce and our players could not adjust to the fast and bouncy conditions abroad. The board will go on to say that a pitches commitee is being consituted to improve the state of pitches in India. After 20 years has anything happened. In fact it is strange that over the last 2 years we have managed to throw up some good fast bowlers from the domestic cricket. In today's tight schedule of trips before u adjust to the conditions the series is already lost.
Is putting up some good quality wickets really that difficult or nobody wants to take the bite? The state associations must be looking for some home advantage when their Ranji team plays at home ,they would not lay a quality pitch even if they have a good team.Imagine what will be case with ordinary Ranji teams. So u have players scoring tons of runs in the domestic cricket and failing regularly in overseas matches.
The other side of the coin is that it is now increasingly difficult to see quality spinners thrown up from domestic cricket.
The solution is to hand over atleast 15-20 grounds to a independent comittee to be managed by a team of experts to improve their state.
