INDIAN CRICKET-THE SORRY STATE

The last two matches in South Africa has left lot of Indian Cricket supporters in total despair. The issue has been raised in parliment and there is a lot of outcry among the parlimentarians. However to my mind this thing was coming for quite sometime.

If one has closely followed Indian cricket for the last few months and years the decay had started quite sometime back. For me the most critical position in the batting order is the No.3 slot. Here in the Indian team we have Dravid coming in at that position. Now in the last match which is a classic example of how Dravid has built his averages and his reputation in part,India were 40-3 or so and everybody watching the match would have realised that the match was lost (except for some magical batting by Dhoni) Dravid was pottering along to score some 60 odd runs. What he was trying to do is well known only to him.At some point one gets the feeling Dravid is playing for a draw in one dayers. In the past Sunil Gavaskar was blamed by various people for trying to play for a draw in one dayersBy comparison look at how Ricky Ponting plays in such a position. It is the attitude at that critical position that determines how the team performs.More on the travails of indian cricket in days to come.
Comments are welcome.

Before giving my opinion about the current state of Indian cricket , let me enlighten u about Sunny .

How dare U can drag Sunil Gavaskar's name here. Damn , the only match which he killed was that infamous 36not out in Worldcup 75 . But for this, Sunny played decent one day cricket.

Mind you, during those years, one day was not that serious cricket until India won the world cup ( I mean , from India's perspective ).

Never comment anything silly about Sunil Gavaskar . HE IS THE GREATEST EVER OPENING BATSMAN OF ALL TIMES. You know the reason. He faced the best of the bowling attack and had scored tons of runs against all opponents in their home grounds

What else do you need about Sunny ?

My comments about Indian cricket follows shortly

By the way, I am S.Balaji, your old friend . He he

So long as you guys keep worshipping Ajit Agharkar , Indian cricket will continue to face failures.

Besides, I hate this concept of foreign coach. Why a foreign coach and that that bloody head strong GREG CHAPPELL who resembles my old friend Jayaraj !!

When we have committed cricketers like Madan Lal, Binny, Jimmy Amarnath , Yashpal Sharma, Sandeep Patil , why a foreign coach ?/

First resolve this problem and talk about others buddy

And why are very particular about 1 down . Is it because you played that position in MPCC for sometime ? Why cant u talk about opening slot ?

I wish this Sachin Tendulkar retires after the world cup so that some aspiring cricketer gets a chance.

This buggar Tendulkar is a big liability of late, who thrives on past glory. He fails in 9 out of 10 matches but comes up with a big score in match 10 and that too not out so that his averages are intact !!

Damn with that buggar Tendulkar. He has failed on every key match. HE IS NOT A BIG MATCH PLAYER.

If he had, we would not have lost so many world cups since 1992.

Well, I am tired today. let me give more thoughts soon

Sridharan would also have meant only about 1975 world cup. SG would have played better cricket in one day if it was more popular during his days!!!(Not our SG) you guys have the habit of praising when some one play well and curse the next time when they are not doing well(except like Balaji always praising Sethu!!!)This is the habit of Indians. Parliamentarians need some topic for shouting at the well of the house. This time it is cricket. Do not take it seriously. When our administrative system changes and there are no push and pull at the top definitely indian cricket will do good and as a matter of fact in all sports and in all endeavours. Jai Hind. Bharath Maatha ki jai!

YES YOU ARE CORRECT SRIDHARAN. PITCHES HAVE TO BE SPORTY. CRICKET HAS TO BE PLAYED WITH SPORTSMANSHIP AND NOT FOR RECORDS.
IT HAS TO BE DEVELOPED FROM THE SCHOOL DAYS. AT ALL LEVELS THE PITCHES HAVE TO BE LAID NOT CONSIDERING THE STRENGTHS OF THE LOCAL TEAM.
